Something To Celebrate: Lazy Mom's Day

Here's a tiny, wonderful fact to tuck into your back pocket: Lazy Mom's Day falls on the first Friday in September, which means someone, somewhere, looked at the calendar and said, "Yes. This. We need this." And honestly? They were right.

Here's the thing about the word "lazy" — it does a lot of unfair heavy lifting. Most moms who take a so-called lazy day are really just doing something radical: resting. Letting the dishes sit for an extra hour. Watching one more episode. Saying "there's cereal" with zero apology and full confidence. That's not laziness. That's a woman who has done approximately ten thousand things this week and is wisely choosing to do ten thousand and one tomorrow instead.

There's always something to celebrate, even when — especially when — the celebration looks like doing absolutely nothing. Joy doesn't have to be loud or elaborate. Sometimes it's quiet, horizontal, and accompanied by a lukewarm cup of coffee that you actually got to finish. That counts. That more than counts.

So today, if you're a mom, love a mom, or have ever had a mom — let today be a little softer. Put the to-do list down for a few hours. The world will still be here. The laundry will still be here. You, however, deserve a moment that belongs entirely to you. Go enjoy it. You've more than earned it. 🧡
