Something To Celebrate: First Bite of Plantain

I tried plantain for the first time today, sliced up alongside my lunch salad. It was good — less sweet than banana, a little more substantial, with something almost savory going on that I wasn't expecting.
I've been thinking about how many things like that are just sitting out there, quietly waiting. Not hidden, not rare — just outside the usual rotation. Plantain has been on grocery store shelves my whole life. I just hadn't reached for it yet. There's something worth noticing in that. The new thing wasn't dramatic. It didn't require a trip anywhere special or a big decision. It was lunch. And it was enough of a small good thing to stay with me.
Whenever something like this happens, my instinct is always the same — find a little something to mark it.
