That's the whole quiet genius of a phone tree. It's not glamorous. It's not an app. It's just a list of names and numbers, passed from one household to the next, like a very practical form of trust.

There's something I find genuinely moving about the idea that connection doesn't have to be complicated to be real. A phone tree says, in the most understated way possible: if something happens, I'll think of you, and I'll make sure someone reaches you.
