Something To Celebrate: International Day of Families

Happy International Day of Families! Today, May 15th, the United Nations (yes, *that* United Nations) officially marks a day to celebrate families. Perhaps you didn't receive an engraved invitation, and neither did I, but it's a lovely excuse to pause.
Now, "family" can be a wonderfully broad, sometimes chaotic, often hilarious concept. It's not always the perfectly posed photo on a holiday card. It's the mismatched socks, the inside jokes that make no sense to outsiders, the shared glance over a questionable cooking experiment, and the comfortable silence that just *fits*. It's the people (and pets, let's be real) who know your coffee order, your weird quirks, and still choose to stick around – even if it's just digitally.
And you know what? There's always something to celebrate. Whether your family is a bustling household, a cozy duo, a chosen group of friends, or a very independent houseplant you've named and occasionally confide in (no judgment here), those connections, large or small, are worth acknowledging.
So today, no need for grand gestures or perfectly coordinated outfits. Maybe just send a quick text, make a mental note of appreciation, or simply enjoy a quiet moment with whoever or whatever constitutes "family" in your world right now. Perhaps even thank that houseplant. They're good listeners.
