Apparently, today, February 8th, is National Kite Flying Day. Who knew?

While the idea of wrestling a string in a gusty field might sound like peak extrovert activity (or just a lot of windburn), there's something universally charming about a kite. It’s a colourful little rebel, dancing against the blue, completely unbothered by earthly concerns. A bit like that one sock that always goes missing, but with more grace.

It’s a lovely reminder that there's always something, no matter how small or seemingly niche, to celebrate. A day for kites? Why not?

So, whether you're dusting off an old diamond-shaped friend from the back of the garage, or simply peering out an office window at the clouds, give a quiet nod to the simple joy of things that fly. Or, you know, just enjoy being firmly grounded. That's perfectly valid too.
