Happy February 11th! Did you know today marks the International Day of Women and Girls in Science? It's a day dedicated to celebrating and promoting the full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls.

Now, you don't need a Nobel Prize (or even a fully functional bunsen burner in your kitchen, though props if you do!) to appreciate the scientific mindset. From finally troubleshooting why the Wi-Fi is so spotty to perfecting your morning coffee ratio, we're all micro-scientists in our own homes, quietly observing and experimenting with the world around us.

And that's why today is so lovely. It’s a moment to celebrate the brilliant minds pushing boundaries in labs and out in the field, of course. But it’s also a gentle nod to the everyday acts of observation and problem-solving that are, at their heart, pretty scientific. There truly is always something to celebrate – from curing diseases to figuring out how to keep your basil plant alive.

So today, perhaps take a moment to appreciate the quiet genius of the universe, or just the fact that your smart device actually works. Raise a metaphorical (or actual) mug of tea to the incredible women and girls who make our world better, smarter, and infinitely more fascinating. Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science!
